Compliguard Flow2 features business user-friendly visual workflow, forms and report designer; Significantly reduces the dependence on IT for creation and modification of workflows

New York – (July 15th, 2010) – Frayman Group (www.fraymangroup.com), a leading provider of new business intake and risk management software for law firms, today announced its second generation workflow and business process management platform, designed to transform the speed and sophistication of workflow creation and management at law firms. Already receiving rave reviews, Compliguard Flow2 raises the bar for new business and lateral hire intake for law firms.

The highly anticipated release of Compliguard Flow2 to be showcased in August at the ILTA 2010 Conference, is receiving broad acclaim from early adopters and sets a new industry standard for innovation and ease of user adoption.

“Compliguard Flow2 is revolutionary in that it is the first product of its kind that truly puts the power in the hands of the business, allowing risk experts – not IT – to visually design their own processes with an intuitive Visio plug-in and visually design the corresponding electronic forms,” said Alp Hug, Senior Vice President Products and Chief Marketing Officer at Frayman Group. “Business users can then test and deploy to the business at the click of a button, shaving weeks, if not months, off the process using traditional approaches.”

“Compliguard Flow2 delivers true agility to law firms,” said Todd Gerstein, CEO of Smart WebParts and acclaimed legal technology expert and consultant. “New business intake is a mission-critical business process for law firms. One that requires deep control and nimbleness in order to provide firms with the flexibility and agility they need to adapt to changing business goals and conditions. Frayman’s Compliguard Flow2 delivers exactly that. ”

Compliguard Flow2 enables firms of all sizes to:

Balance a flexible business process management toolkit with the reliability of a full-featured packaged solution

Design, adjust, test, and deploy key business processes in minutes, without the need for IT resources

Utilize Microsoft Office Visio’s inherently intuitive interface as a canvas to “click-and-connect” pre-configured legal-specific workflow actions and sub-processes

Create staff- and attorney-friendly electronic forms using a drag-and-drop web interface, no programming required

Get a quick start by leveraging business-proven templates for processes including New Business Intake (NBI), Anti-Money Laundering (AML), Know Your Client (KYC), lateral hire on-boarding, and more

Access a continuously growing library of forms, processes, sub-processes, and system integrations, providing just-in-time nimble solutions to emerging new challenges such as alternative billing approvals

Centralize control using a full-featured control console, enabling the management and monitoring of processes across offices and departments

Benefit from a risk-based perspective to business – to be used by risk professionals across the firm who understand liability exposure and manage it directly

Compliguard Flow2 will be showcased at the ILTA 2010 Conference in Las Vegas, Booth 403 from August 22nd to 26th.

Posted by Yelena Chervinsky

I have designed 127 workflows in my life. Workflows to manage conflicts and clearance processes. Workflows to manage new business and lateral hire intake. Workflows to manage Know Your Client and Business Intelligence/CRM processes. Workflows to manage all sorts of critical business processes at law firms and for law firms.

And I’m done. Don’t get me wrong, I love what I do but….

Now it’s your turn.

If you’re at a law firm and responsible in some way for the efficiency of taking on new business, or are involved in any aspect of process-reengineering (automation) of your firm’s processes, I know your job is tough. It’s complicated. It’s challenging. It’s changing quickly.

Mapping how the business works, identifying current flaws and areas for improvement, and then designing how it should work is inherently hard stuff. The technology to design it and implement processes should not be though. So I asked the team, “Can you make it easier?” Okay, maybe I told the team, “Make it easier!!”

And they did. (What a terrific team!)

It’s been a year in the making, and I’m delighted to announce the best next generation workflow product – Compliguard Flow2.

I said, “Make it easy to visualize!” They said, “Done. Design your processes yourself in Visio.”

I said, “Let the business people make changes without needing IT or PhD’s in advanced nuclear physics!” They said, “Done!”

I said, “Give everyone a head start to design their own processes!” They said, “Done. Templates, pre-populated examples, all based on our years of experience working with 270 law firms.”

I said, “Make forms as easy to design as the workflows!” They said, “Done. Drag and drop fields and click to set the business logic.”

I said, “Let them test and deploy it with one click!” They said, “Done. One click…”

I said, “Give the power to the people so that they could govern their processes on their own!” They said, “Done!”

Okay, I may be dreaming about white sandy beaches and drinks with umbrellas and ton of vodka (hey, I’m Russian!), I’m actually not planning on retiring anytime soon – I’m still here to help with the tough stuff, i.e. how processes should work, best practices, if you get stuck on something.

But now all the power to make it happen can be in your hands…

posted by Alp Hug

In this the summer of 2010, with the front pages littered with tales of BP, JP Morgan, Lehman, UBS, Goldman Sachs, Société Générale, Wachovia, Madoff, AIG, many believe that ethics has left the building – the skyscraper to be more specific. The public is convinced that the corporate world is bereft of any moral code and runs on greed and an insatiable desire to “win”. “Don’t let your kids grow up to be bankers” might be a new hit country western song.

The natural outcome of all this is increased pressure from the public for governments to intervene and take control. The result is an influx of rules and regulations for how public companies need to govern themselves, and ultimately, how law firms should appropriately represent them.

This new, highly regulated world requires a well-structured confidentiality infrastructure for law firms, one that self-governs and produces a comprehensive, full-fledged audit trail for the likely future investigations of how customers and their information were handled.

What does this mean for law firms? Gone are the days where so called “ethical walls”, “chinese walls”, “ethical screens” or “information barriers” can be created and managed by IT staff manually and just on the document management system. The cost and _risk_ of such an endeavor is simply too great for a law firm. The modern, digital law firm requires a proper, automated, proactive approach to comprehensive information governance and confidentiality management across all systems.

Enter the era of simple, automated, integrated, seamless information governance. New solutions like Compliguard Protect from Frayman Group now provide a web-based, wizard-driven confidentiality management solution that is designed from the ground up to empower the lawyer, while providing control and management capabilities to firm IT and management staff. This is a must-have component of the future law firm infrastructure, a necessity for firms to survive and thrive in the highly regulated new world.

But wait! Don’t implement a comprehensive confidentiality management system just to meet the regulatory requirements. Increasingly, this compliance infrastructure is not just a requirement, but also a competitive advantage, providing the firm with the ability to take on sensitive, confidential cases, and prove to prospects that they can easily establish and automatically monitor information barriers across all their systems.

A word of caution that confidentiality management is now more than just a check box item. Not all solutions in the market are created equal. Do your homework and pick the right solution for your firm. You want to make sure you get a modern system that was designed with the current and future needs of your firm in mind. A system that can grow as your firm’s needs grow.

Is your firm ready for the new world?

When I founded Frayman Group I set out to help change the way law firms do business – with the next generation of risk management. Three years later, Frayman is doing just that with over 50 people and growing, working every day with more than 80 law firms around the world.

By starting this blog, I want to change the way our community talks about the way law firms do business. We need to discuss, challenge each other and have heated debates. We need to exchange know-how, best practices, and share horror stories. We need to agree, and occasionally disagree, on important issues at the core of the legal industry.

At Frayman we have a vision of the law firm of tomorrow. We need to speed up our industry’s transformation to “Law Firms 2.0” – or maybe skip straight to 3.0! And not because the technology makes it possible – but to keep competitive and keep up with the expectations of our clients. We need to transform the elements at the heart of every firm, traditionally viewed as cost centers into competitive advantages. That includes how firms manage clients, take on new business, manage conflicts, maintain high ethical standards, and conduct the business of law.

Let me introduce the Frayman blogging team who will instigate these conversations. Collectively, they have over 50 years’ experience working with and in over 250 law firms around the world, and they have many thought-provoking ideas to share!

Alp Hug
Alp is Frayman’s Chief Marketing Officer. An enterprise software industry veteran with over 15 years of working with law firms, he brings a unique perspective to the table, with a strong appetite to challenge the norm.

Yelena Chervinsky
Yelena is VP Risk Management Consulting at Frayman. One of the foremost experts in new business intake and lateral hire practice management software and best practices, she’s a sought after resource in the industry. Yelena thrives in bringing a proven, methodical approach to implementation of NBI processes at every firm, ensuring alignment of processes with the firm’s strategic goals.

Elizabeth Caley
A recent addition to Frayman as VP Product Marketing, Elizabeth spent 5 years at Microsoft, most recently running the Information Worker business unit in Canada including Microsoft Office, SharePoint & Exchange businesses. Elizabeth is known for her customer-centric approach to product requirements definition and feature prioritization, and acts as the customer advocate to ensure we build software that meets and exceeds the market’s needs.

Barry Schiffman
Barry is General Counsel at Frayman Group. An unconventional mix of law firm practice, entrepreneurship and operational experience in high technology companies makes this Georgetown graduate a sought after speaker, writer and commentator at legal events and news commentary TV shows alike.

We’re looking forward to an active exchange of ideas on:

People: How general counsel, risk managers, records managers, IT staff, attorneys and lawyers can work together to better manage risk within law firms

Processes: New business intake, new clients and matters, new lateral hire intake, conflicts management, interactive conflicts resolution, ethical walls and information barriers, information governance, litigation holds, anti-money laundering (AML), know your client (KYC), and any other regulations and processes related to a firm’s end-to-end risk management

Technology: The adoption and implementation of mobile technology including Blackberry and iPhone, Microsoft technology including .NET, SharePoint and Visio, risk analytics, business rules engines, workflow design, electronic forms, effective risk reporting and dashboards, system integration

What’s your vision of the law firm of tomorrow?

We invite you to the conversation.
